News Of Paris – Fifteen Years Ago Synopsis

"News of Paris" is a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It was published in Furioso in the winter of 1947. This short story is one of Fitzgerald's works that is published posthumously.

Henry Dell is in Paris to attend a wedding. Henry is a ladies' man. He was leaving his hotel with a countess named Ruth. To avoid public scrutiny, they acted like strangers at the wedding. After the wedding, Henry meets a brunette named Bassie Wing. Bassie is about to break off her engagement at the same cafe where Henry is meeting with Ruth.

Excerpt from News Of Paris – Fifteen Years Ago Online Book

"We shouldn't both be coming from the same direction," Ruth said. "A lot of people know we're at the same hotel."

Henry Haven Dell smiled and then they both laughed. It was a bright morning in April and they had just turned off the Champs Elysées toward the English Church.

"I'll walk on the other side of the street," he said, "and then we'll meet at the door."
