Excerpt from Majesty Online Book
The extraordinary thing is not that people in a lifetime turn out worse or better than we had prophesied, particularly in America; that is to be expected. The extraordinary thing is how people keep their levels, fulfill their promises, seem actually buoyed up by an inevitable destiny.
One of my conceits is that no one has ever disappointed me since I turned eighteen and could tell a real quality from a gift for sleight of hand, and even many of the merely showy people in my past seem to go on being blatantly and successfully showy to the end.
About F. Scott Fitzgerald
Francis Scott Fitzgerald is one of the most renowned authors of American literature. Born in 1896, Fitzgerald is best known for his novel The Great Gatsby, published in 1925, and has remained a seminal work of twentieth-century fiction. Fitzgerald's works were often autobiographical, and he drew upon his life experiences for inspiration. Fitzgerald was intensely interested in the lifestyle surrounding him during the roaring twenties. His writing style was characterized by lyrical prose and keen insight into human nature; he perfectly captured innocence and decadence. While Fitzgerald enjoyed some commercial success while alive, it was not until after his death that he was recognized as one of America's greatest writers. Find out more about F.
