About Charles Dickens
Charles Dickens is one of the most renowned authors of all time and his works are known around the world. He was born in Portsmouth, England in 1812 and from a young age showed an affinity for writing. After his family’s financial troubles, Dickens was sent to work in a factory at the age of 10 to help support them. The experience left an indelible mark on him as he wrote its experiences into many of his great novels such as Oliver Twist.
Dickens went on to publish some of the most famous books ever written including A Christmas Carol and Great Expectations. His tales often explored themes such as poverty and social justice, making him a much beloved author who still holds relevance today.
