About Charles Dickens
Charles Dickens is one of the most celebrated authors in the English language. Born in Portsmouth, England in 1812, Dickens enjoyed a remarkable literary career that spanned more than fifty years. He wrote fifteen novels and dozens of short stories, and essays. His works provided vivid insight into the social conditions of Victorian England and earned him a place among the greatest writers of all time.
Dickens was renowned for his ability to capture complex characters with wit and humor. His most beloved works include Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol, Great Expectations, David Copperfield and A Tale of Two Cities. These classic tales appeal to readers for their colorful characters and powerful social commentary on class divisions in society. Many films have been made from these stories over the years but none can quite compare to the original works penned by Charles Dickens himself. Find out more about Charles Dickens.
