About Charles Dickens

Charles Dickens was an iconic English author of the 19th century. His works have become timeless classics, with his themes and narrative techniques influencing generations of writers to come. Born in Portsmouth in 1812, Dickens developed a love for reading at an early age. This passion spurred him on to write short stories that criticized social injustice and poverty during the Victorian era. Through his writing he also managed to bring attention to issues such as child labor and capital punishment that were prevalent in England at the time.
